A SILVER CANDLESTICK that lived in a household used to fight with the electric lamp over who was more important to man. So big was their fight even, that they couldn’t stand next to each other.
"I'm definitely more useful, as humans are used to my company when reading books until sunrise", the electric lamp boasted.
"Well, I think I am more important, as my presence stirs the human imagination. In my company, humans write the most beautiful poems", the candlestick replied.
A man then entered the room, who was holding a pen and a piece of paper on his one hand, as well as a book full of poems on his other.
"Here's your proof then; you are no longer useful the moment he blows the candle out", the electric lamp boasted, seeing the man approaching.
"Same for you, the moment the electric cable is pulled off", the candlestick replied in turn.
So, they both waited for the man to come over and decide.
"It's so romantic without all this artificial light!", the man exclaimed as soon as he opened the window, only to see the full moon shining in the sky. He then switched the lamp off and blew the candle so as to enjoy reading poems with only the moon’s light washing his face.
That same night he wrote the best poem he had ever written in a lifetime.
