A VANILLA that once lived in a grocery store was very suspicious and kept worrying about the other fruit and vegetables avoiding her company.
Things got really bad when one nice autumn day, a closed invitation caught her attention. As soon as she saw it, she suspected that the other fruit and vegetables were throwing a party, and kept worrying whether she would be invited as well.
Many hours passed and nobody mentioned anything to her. Every time she asked the other fruit and vegetable about it, they would instantly change subject so as to avoid answering. In the end, and seeing that time was passing, she got disappointed. “No invitation for me?”, she murmured to herself.
Then, and while the other fruit and vegetables were out of the grocery store for a walk, she grasped on the opportunity: she walked to the table, picked the closed invitation up, and tried to open it. No sooner had she read the first two lines, however, and the plum shouted at her from the other side of the room: “This is not for you!”.
Our poor vanilla got so disappointed that she went outside for a walk. She walked, and walked, and cried in the very idea that the other fruit and vegetables were throwing a party without inviting her. After calming down again, she headed back to the grocery store, but as she was still feeling sad, she preferred to sit outside and get some fresh air instead of walking back in to find them. The plum then opened the door and told her: “come inside!”. As soon as she walked in the room, she was left speechless with what she saw: all the fruit and vegetables, wearing party clothes and holding balloons, greeted her with excitement. “Well, you got no invitation because it would ruin the surprise for your birthday party!”, they told her and she burst into tears, this time of joy, as she had spent so much energy worrying that she had forgotten it was her birthday! Eventually, not only did she enjoy it, but she even realized that too much worrying can be actually the cause of trouble....
