A RASPBERRY that once lived in a grocery store enjoyed playing video games so much that he never let the other fruit and vegetables get close to his personal computer, out of fear they would break his high scores. So proud was he, even, that he claimed to be the greatest “informatician”.
Seeing that he would never leave anyone else sit at the computer, the other fruit and vegetables came up with a plan to force him to. “How about teaching us how to use the machine?”, they told him as he finished the next level of his favorite videogame. He got excited to hear it, as he thought it was his chance to prove them his skills. To impress them, even, he set up a classroom. He bought chairs, school desks, a blackboard and chalks, and placed the computer right in the middle of the classroom so everyone could see it. He also rehearsed in front of the mirror so as to best prepare for his lecture. When the big hour came, he greeted his students with a big, warm smile. They all sat on their chairs, carrying notebooks and pens, and pretended to be paying attention to their teacher as he analyzed the various components of a computer. They then explained to him that the computer is best learned if one gets to sit in front of it, and asked him to give them some time to apply all the cool things he had shown them using the blackboard. So it happened. The students gathered around the computer, holding their notebooks. Feeling stressed from the class, the raspberry found the opportunity to go out of the grocery store and breathe some fresh air. When a few minutes later he returned to the classroom, he was met with an unexpected sight: his students had thrown their notebooks away and replaced them with game controllers, whereas his favorite videogame was displayed on screen, exactly at the level at which he had left it. “You broke my score!”, the raspberry exclaimed angrily and tried to take the game controllers from their hands with force. He then looked at their notebooks, only to realize that they were completely empty as they had noted nothing, since they already knew everything that he supposedly taught them the previous hours. “This is what happens when you never share the computer with us and only act as smart!”, the fruit and vegetables told him and burst into laughter. He became red with shame. From that day on, our good raspberry learned his lesson, on one hand to share his computer with others, and, on the other, never take pride in what he knows. ...
