A PEAR that once lived in a grocery store had made a bad habit out of wasting all his money on ice-cream during summer time, thinking he was enjoying his vacations better that way.
“I’ll go on a diet, but it’s best to do that… in September!”, he told the other fruit and vegetables, and no matter how many kilos he had put on, he wouldn’t change his ways. No sooner had he run a few meters, however, and the cheap string with which the tailor had sewn his sack broke, and the pear stumbled and fell on the ground as a result. The other fruit and vegetables laughed with his mishap at first, only to stop the race and help him get up and clean himself a few seconds later. Red with shame, our good pear admitted that he had not lost a single kilo since the time they got back from summer vacations. So, he took his lesson and decided to lose the extra kilos with proper diet and much patience. ...
